Update from a possible future homeowner

No tags on this one - I just wanted to give a quick update.  Due to a recent death in the family, there is a house in the family that we're working on "selling" to me.  That means I will have a mortgage and utility/homeowner expenses for the first time ever.  Before we can get to that, I need to get my unfortunately high credit card balances down to a manageable rate & build up my savings again.  This means cutting out a lot of fun stuff, which has been intensely depressing.

 But hopefully, it'll all work out, it'll all be worth it, and I can truly start to live my own life in my own place.

 I know I don't update anywhere as much as I should or would like to, but if you're curious about the radio silence this time, here's why.  Actual good reason this time instead of depression-fueled procrastination.

New home for original writing!

 So... this blog is pretty darn DEAD, right? Right. The last activity it's had has been a personal essay most people ignored, and me having to close the comments after some Lost-obsessed weirdo from Twitter used them to insult me. A show I've never really cared about. And people wonder why I hold term searchers on social media in such disdain... Anyway! This past year I've decided to start sharing some of my original fiction, in a monthly serialized format, and I felt that this site was just too dead for it. Ink and Paint: Thoughts on a Curious Fandom

I have a deep guilty fondness for Captain Planet . It's cheesy, super-simplified with how it handles major issues (especially the social ones), and it wears its intentions not so much on its sleeve as on its chest in day-glo neon. But there's something about it I always enjoyed. I don't know if it's the "international team" setup (which I've had a fondness for from reading years & years of X-books) or the sheer sincerity of it all in trying to teach complicated things at all. Or maybe I like a lot of the VAs they used to replace most of the celebrities once they got bored.
